Why has joining a healthcare agency become so popular?
Posted 26 Sep, 2023

There has been a noticeable increase in the number healthcare professionals opting to join agencies over full or part time roles at their local care home or hospital. We’ve looked at some of the reasons why joining a healthcare agency is continually growing in popularity.

Experience

Going to work at the same job and following the same routine day-in, day-out can leave individuals in their comfort zone without pushing them to increase their skill set or knowledge.

Working for an agency, staff can often get the best of both worlds. Some agency staff enjoy working at one service and continue working there for months, sometimes even years. Most, however, will work in multiple local settings which can vary each week to ensure they are constantly learning, improving and testing themselves in different environments.

Primcura Healthcare have worked over 300 care services across Kent since 2021 and will go through local work options with you at the interview stage to make sure we find the right clients for you.

Working on select days

Healthcare is a 24/7 job and most of our clients require both day and night cover, seven days a week. Working with an agency, staff have the power to select the days and hours they wish to work offering greater flexibility and control of their working weeks.

Our Primcura Healthcare app enables our staff to select and update their availability on their mobile. It couldn’t be easier to let us know when you’re available to work.

Meeting new people

Working in different settings enables staff to meet new people, both staff and residents.  It’s a great way to share ideas, create new friendships and learn from others.

Primcura Healthcare currently employs 284 healthcare professionals in Kent and we’re proud of the family mentality we have within our team. Make sure you say ‘hi’ if you see another member of our team on shift.

Pay rates

Overall, agencies tend to pay a slightly higher pay rate to full or part time roles (there are some care services where this will not be the case) and pay is weekly rather than monthly. Earning extra money at a time where prices around the county have increased is a major attraction for  workers in any industry and healthcare is no different. There will also usually be an enhanced rate for night and weekend workers.

Our staff are paid higher than the market average for healthcare assistants, support workers and registered nurses. All pay rates are discussed at the interview stage.
