Job Description

Rehabilitation Support Worker / Buddy - Slough

Start Date: 2nd November 2026
Pay Rate: £18.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday or Monday to Saturday, approximately 4-5 hours per day

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Rehabilitation Support Worker / Buddy to support a lady living in her own home in Slough following a serious road traffic accident.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a rehabilitation-focused approach who is passionate about supporting individuals to regain independence, build confidence and achieve their recovery goals.

About the Client

Our client sustained significant injuries following a road traffic accident in March 2026, resulting in an open tibia/fibula fracture that required surgery. She has made excellent progress in her recovery and is now able to weight bear without restriction.

She continues to experience ongoing pain and anxiety relating to mobility, which impacts her confidence. She is actively engaged with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy and pain management services.

She lives in a two-storey property in Slough and currently uses a stairlift to access the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. She mobilises with a Zimmer frame and is working towards increased independence using a four-wheeled walker.

The Role

This position is focused on rehabilitation, encouragement and promoting independence, rather than traditional personal care.

You will support the client to:

  • Build confidence with mobility and everyday activities.
  • Practice and complete her Home Exercise Programme (HEP).
  • Use rehabilitation equipment safely and effectively.
  • Attend therapy sessions, medical appointments and community activities.
  • Access the local community and engage in meaningful activities.
  • Accompany and support her with transport arrangements, including taxis/Ubers where required.
  • Encourage progression towards goals identified by the therapy team.
  • Provide motivation, reassurance and emotional support to overcome anxiety around mobility and recovery.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and the wider rehabilitation team.

Current Weekly Therapy Schedule

  • Tuesday: Hydrotherapy (11:00am - 12:00pm)
  • Thursday: Hydrotherapy (11:00am - 12:00pm)
  • Friday: Occupational Therapy at home (10:00am - 11:00am)

Additional physiotherapy and occupational therapy assistant sessions will be scheduled throughout the week.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience as a Support Worker, Rehabilitation Assistant, Therapy Assistant, Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Has experience supporting individuals with mobility difficulties, orthopaedic injuries or rehabilitation programmes.
  • Is confident in encouraging independence while working within professional guidance.
  • Is patient, positive and motivating.
  • Understands the impact anxiety can have on rehabilitation and recovery.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is reliable, proactive and committed to achieving positive outcomes.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential).

What We Offer

  • £18.00 per hour
  • Consistent hours within a structured rehabilitation programme.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to someone's rehabilitation journey.
  • Close working alongside a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
  • Ongoing support and guidance from therapists and case management professionals.
  • A supportive environment focused on helping the client maximise independence and recovery.
