Job Description

Introduction

Are you a compassionate and driven leader ready to make a meaningful difference? Our client is looking for a Team Leader to join a residential children’s home in Broadstairs, supporting up to five young people (aged 8–18) with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviours, and mental health needs. Rooted in an ethos of empowerment, safety, and consistency, the home offers a structured yet caring environment where boundaries and expectations help young people flourish.

What You’ll Do

As our Team Leader, you’ll guide and support the Residential Support Worker (RSW) team to deliver high-quality, empowering care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading shifts and supervising staff, fostering a positive, outcome-oriented culture.
  • Supporting staff development through coaching, appraisals, and ensuring team confidence and competence.
  • Ensuring high standards of care, contributing to and reviewing individualised care plans in line with each young person’s needs.
  • Coordinating day-to-day operations such as administrative records, rota planning, safety protocols, and communication with external professionals.
  • Being a positive role model—championing consistency, emotional safety, professional boundaries, and supportive relationships.

Who You Are

Essential:

  • Experience in leading or supervising within a residential care setting for young people.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills—able to support staff and advocate for young people.
  • Commitment to a person-centred, structured, and inclusive approach—especially for those with complex trauma, LD, autism, and mental health needs.
  • Flexibility to work varied shift patterns (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins).

Desirable:

  • Formal qualification, such as NVQ Level4 in Children & Young People or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of OFSTED.

What We Offer

  • A supportive leadership opportunity with £33,665 salary, reflecting the responsibility and impact of this role.
  • A values-driven, nurturing environment where strong boundaries and empowerment make a real difference for young lives.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, including leadership development and sector training.
  • The satisfaction of guiding a dedicated team and supporting vulnerable young people to thrive.
