Job Title: Team Leader
Reports To: Registered Service Manager

Job Purpose

The Team Leader role is to support the Registered Service Manager and Deputy Manager in leading the service and ensuring the highest standards of care and service delivery. In line with Ofsted regulations, quality standards, and The Client’s values, the Team Leader will provide effective shift leadership, staff support, and operational oversight.

The Team Leader is accountable to the Registered Service Manager, who holds overall responsibility for the service, and plays a key role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment for children and young people.


Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding

  • Comply with safeguarding children procedures at all times

  • Promote an open, honest, and transparent safeguarding culture

  • Raise and report safeguarding concerns promptly to senior team members

  • Promote safe practice and safeguarding awareness within the team

Health & Safety

  • Comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures

  • Support the service in achieving Health and Safety compliance targets

  • Promote a safe environment for children, young people, staff, and visitors

Customer Care & Quality

  • Demonstrate commitment to high-quality, person-centered care

  • Ensure awareness of Ofsted SCIFF and the 9 Quality Standards

  • Adhere to The Client’s policies, procedures, and values

  • Support and participate in meetings and reviews with professionals

  • Work flexibly within a Rota system, including shift leadership

  • Ensure the home environment is clean, safe, and well maintained

Leadership & Management

  • Provide strong, supportive leadership during shifts

  • Inspire, motivate, and support staff development and engagement

  • Lead handovers and debriefs, delegating tasks appropriately

  • Provide feedback to senior leaders regarding staff performance, incidents, and service improvements

  • De-escalate and address staff concerns in the first instance

  • Contribute to accurate and effective staff supervision processes

  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

Business & Commercial Performance

  • Support the Deputy Manager in managing financial matters, including children and young people’s monies and company funds

  • Maintain accurate financial records and report discrepancies to the Registered Service Manager

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Continuous Improvement & Development

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice

  • Support compliance with Ofsted 9 Quality Standards

  • Encourage learning, development, and reflective practice

  • Recognise, celebrate, and share achievements and successes


Requirements

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Level 4 Children & Young People’s Workforce Diploma (Social Care Pathway) or equivalent (essential or working towards)

  • Strong knowledge of legislation and regulation relating to Ofsted-registered children’s homes (essential)

  • Experience working in a relevant health or social care setting

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Effective planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills

  • Confident use of information and communication technology, including The Client’s systems
